L’Arche Erie
Skills Needed
Applicants must speak English, have valid driver’s license, High School diploma or equivalent GED, be able to lift/transfer individuals and wheelchairs (approx. 40 lbs), complete and pass the Department of Public Welfare Med Admin. Course, be able to pass CPR & First Aid. Applicants should plan to provide employment references and have a criminal record and drug screening.
Geographic Location
L’Arche Erie is located in an urban area on the shores of Lake Erie. Our homes have easy access to the downtown area as well as hiking and other year-round outdoor recreation activities. Erie is a town of 100,000. The city’s lakeside location helps to temper summer heat, so it’s unusual for temperatures to rise above 85 degrees in the summer. In the winter, Erie is one of the snowiest places in the US.
Public Transportation
Assistants have access to Erie’s public transportation system.
Community Description
Members of the community are a broad range of ages and come from diverse backgrounds. We have 7 houses, an apartment, and three family-living situations where its many members live, work, and share in daily life. L’Arche Erie employs over 70 assistant members who support 32 core members.

Our assistants are dedicated to L’Arche and we the unique personalities and gifts of our core members, friends, former assistants, and volunteers.
