Are you looking for a new adventure, rooted in community, new experiences and friendships? We’re inviting you to explore becoming an Assistant. Assistants come to live in a L’Arche community, provide support and share in friendships with Core Members (persons with intellectual disabilities). Assistants find their time at L’Arche to be filled with meaning, growth, friendship, challenge, and fun.

You can find our communities from coast to coast! W’re located in big cities and small towns, with 29 communities spread across Canada from Vancouver Island to Cape Breton.

Some of our communities are large with over eighty people involved in the community, while others are more intimate with closer to ten people involved.
We’re also bilingual: our communities in Quebec are French speaking and the rest of our communities in Canada are English speaking (and Ottawa is bilingual!).

At L’Arche, people with and without intellectual disabilities live, work, and learn together creating communities of friendship and belonging. We foster mutual relationships, celebrate the unique value of every person, and strive for a world where everyone can belong and contribute.
