Just as important as any skill is having a heart for community and a deep appreciation for the power of togetherness. We are looking for individuals who are ready to listen, learn, laugh, and walk alongside others—sharing life with humility, compassion, and mutual respect.

L’Arche North Carolina opened its first home in South Durham in January 2025, marking a significant milestone in our mission to build inclusive communities of belonging. As we continue to grow our presence throughout the Triangle, we are expanding our reach with regular community programs in Downtown Raleigh and hosting community meet-ups at various locations across the region. Our commitment remains strong to fostering connection, inclusion, and shared life across the Triangle.

Our first home in South Durham is just a 10–15 minute walk from a GoDurham bus stop, supporting our core members in becoming fully integrated into the local community. In addition to fixed-route transit, the Triangle offers GoDurham ACCESS and GoRaleigh ACCESS—ADA-compliant paratransit services that make inclusive transportation even more accessible. Our house also has two vehicles that assistants can use to help Core Members get from place to place! It also benefits from direct access to the American Tobacco Trail, providing a safe and scenic route for walking, biking, and connection with neighbors.
