L\u2019Arche North Carolina opened its first home in South Durham in January 2025, marking a significant milestone in our mission to build inclusive communities of belonging. As we continue to grow our presence throughout the Triangle, we are expanding our reach with regular community programs in Downtown Raleigh and hosting community meet-ups at various locations across the region. Our commitment remains strong to fostering connection, inclusion, and shared life across the Triangle.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

Public Transportation<\/h3>\n\t

Our first home in South Durham is just a 10\u201315 minute walk from a GoDurham bus stop, supporting our core members in becoming fully integrated into the local community. In addition to fixed-route transit, the Triangle offers GoDurham ACCESS and GoRaleigh ACCESS\u2014ADA-compliant paratransit services that make inclusive transportation even more accessible. Our house also has two vehicles that assistants can use to help Core Members get from place to place! It also benefits from direct access to the American Tobacco Trail, providing a safe and scenic route for walking, biking, and connection with neighbors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

At L\u2019Arche North Carolina, we are an inclusive community that celebrates the beauty of diversity and works to create spaces where every person feels welcomed, heard, and seen. We believe that every individual has unique gifts that deserve to be discovered, recognized, and celebrated.<\/span><\/p>\n

We actively partner with a wide range of organizations\u2014both religious and secular\u2014to foster deeper understanding and to help transform public perceptions of people living with intellectual disabilities.<\/p>\n

Our Community is welcoming. At L\u2019Arche North Carolina, we joyfully welcome people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and abilities. Whether we\u2019re gathering for crafts, games, songs, meals, or prayer, every moment is an opportunity to build relationships, share joy, and celebrate life together.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Community is resilient. L\u2019Arche NC exists today because of the dedication and perseverance of individuals who spent years working to bring our vision to life. In January 2025, we opened our first home in South Durham, welcoming four Core Members into a life of shared community. The response has been overwhelming\u2014with 35 individuals applying to live in our first home, it\u2019s clear there is a deep and growing need for more inclusive spaces like L\u2019Arche. Our journey has just begun, and we\u2019re committed to continuing this work across the Triangle and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n
